Summer School in Romanian Language, Culture and Civilization (July-August)
About the Program
Organized by the University of Bucharest, this summer school is the oldest academic program in Romania dedicated to promoting Romanian language and culture abroad. Founded in the 1960s by the linguist Alexandru Rosetti and later coordinated by professor Boris Cazacu, the program has gained long-standing recognition and prestige through the participation of renowned Romanian and international professors, scholars, and artists.
Courses Dates for 2026 Edition
The University of Bucharest organizes the Summer Courses in Romanian Language, Culture and Civilization between 26 July – 09 August 2026

Classes: July 27th - August 8th, 2026
Departure: August 09th, 2026
The program is intensive and fully immersive, with activities scheduled every day, including weekends. The schedule is designed to provide a complete learning and cultural experience, so full attendance is required. Participants are strongly advised not to plan other activities during this period.
Mornings: Romanian language courses (20 hours/week, 09:00–13:30), focused on developing communication skills through structured lessons and practice.
Afternoons: workshops, cultural activities, and guided visits include listening, dance & theatre, traditions, and multimedia, depending on level.
Courses, Activities & Structure
Courses focus on practical communication, developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Students learn to use Romanian in real-life situations and become familiar with cultural communication styles. Courses are taught by experienced professors, academics, and specialists in Romanian as a foreign language from the University of Bucharest. Students are placed into level groups (A1-A2: basic communication in everyday contexts, B1–B2: independent use of language, expanded vocabulary, C1: advanced proficiency and near-native communication) based on an initial placement test to ensure effective learning.
