Minimum Admission Grade

To be eligible for admission, applicants must hold a qualification equivalent to the Romanian minimum admission grade of 7/10. The University of Bucharest evaluates each application individually based on the official academic documents submitted.

Different countries use different grading systems. As a general guideline, a Romanian grade of 7/10 may correspond to:

  • Approximately 70% in percentage-based systems
  • A B grade in many letter-based systems
  • A Credit or equivalent classification in several international grading frameworks

These equivalencies are provided for guidance only and do not guarantee admission.

All grade conversions are indicative and are intended to help applicants understand the minimum academic requirements. The final evaluation of qualifications is carried out by the University of Bucharest based on the official documents submitted, and the university reserves the right to determine the final academic equivalency.

What level of English is required?

Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency at B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Applicants may provide internationally recognised English language certificates as proof of proficiency, including:

• IELTS
• TOEFL
• Cambridge English Qualifications
• Pearson PTE Academic
• Other recognised English language certificates

The Duolingo English Test is not accepted as proof of English language proficiency for admission to the Preparatory Year programme.

Planning to study in Romanian language?

Applicants who wish to enrol in a Romanian-taught study programme must demonstrate Romanian language proficiency.

Candidates who do not speak Romanian, do not hold a Romanian language certificate, and have not completed previous studies in Romanian must first apply for the Preparatory Year of Romanian Language before continuing with their chosen degree programme.
