Scholarship Opportunities

International students awarded a Romanian Government Scholarship may pursue studies at the University of Bucharest in accordance with the provisions established by the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Romanian Agency for Foreign Trade alongside the Ministry of Education and Research.

Essential Information

Who is a scholarship holder?

A scholarship holder is a student selected through the Romanian Government Scholarship programme and admitted by the Ministry of Education through a letter of acceptance.

Language Requirement

Scholarship studies are conducted in Romanian. Most students must complete the Romanian Language Preparatory Year before beginning their degree programme.

Scholarship Benefits

Scholarship recipients benefit from tuition fee exemption and may receive accommodation support according to university regulations and available capacity.

Your Enrolment Timeline as a scholarship holder student

1. Submit Your Letter of Acceptance

Submit your Letter of Acceptance and personal details through the online form as soon as possible. Access the submission form. →

2. Apply for a Study Visa

Receive your accommodation confirmation and apply for your study visa through the eVisa platform →

3. Book an Enrolment Appointment

Schedule your enrolment appointment at the International Relations Office based on your travel date and flight ticket. Click here →

4. Visit the International Relations Office

Attend your enrolment appointment in person with all original documents and sign your study contract.

5. Complete Faculty Registration

Check into your dormitory, then proceed to your faculty to complete the registration process and collect your student documents.

Important: Before submitting your documents, please ensure that all required documents are properly authenticated and translated, where applicable.
  • Documents issued in countries that are part of the Hague Convention must bear the Hague Apostille.
  • Documents issued in countries that are not part of the Hague Convention must be superlegalized by the competent authorities.

All study documents that are not originally issued in Romanian, English, or French must be accompanied by an authorized translation and legalized by a public notary.

Documents originally issued in Romanian, English, or French do not require translation; however, any required legalization procedures remain mandatory. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in delays or the rejection of your enrolment file.

Receive your Student ID Card and your Public Transport Card (where applicable)

Obtain information about the academic year

Important Information

All documents submitted during the admission process must be presented in original at enrolment.

Failure to present the original documents may result in the impossibility of completing the enrolment process.

For candidates under age 18: Candidates under the age of 18 must be accompanied during enrolment by one or both parents. As minors cannot independently sign enrolment documents in Romania, the required parental authorisations must be provided. If a parent is unable to attend, a notarised power of attorney/declaration from the absent parent (or from both parents, where applicable) must be presented.

Academic Year
The academic year at the University of Bucharest begins on 1 October each year. Students are expected to be available to begin their studies from this date.
