Practical Information for Incoming Exchange Students
Airport and Public Transportation
Arriving in Bucharest
Bucharest can be reached by plane, train, or long-distance bus services from major Romanian and European cities.
The city is served by Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP), Romania’s main international airport, and Băneasa Airport (BBU). Bucharest North Railway Station (Gara de Nord) is the country’s main rail hub, offering national and international connections.
Please note that the University of Bucharest does not provide airport pick-up services. Students may use public transportation, taxis, or ride-sharing services to reach their accommodation.
Taxi and Ride-Sharing Services
Official taxis can be ordered using the taxi machines located inside the airport terminal. Avoid unlicensed drivers and unofficial taxi offers outside the airport.
Ride-sharing services are widely available in Bucharest and provide a convenient alternative for travel between the airport and the city.
Airport Connections
Train
A direct train service connects Henri Coandă International Airport with Bucharest North Railway Station (Gara de Nord).
Bus
Several public bus routes connect the airport with Bucharest city centre and major transport hubs.

The network includes five metro lines connecting the main residential, academic, and commercial areas of Bucharest. Many University of Bucharest buildings are located near metro stations, making daily commuting easy and efficient.
Students may purchase discounted public transport subscriptions after completing their enrolment procedures.
