Special Circumstances Documents
- Marriage Certificate/Court decision of name change (if there was a name change)
- Power of Attorney for minors from both parents (for underaged candidates)
- Documents issued in countries that are part of the Hague Convention must bear the Hague Apostille.
- Documents issued in countries that are not part of the Hague Convention must be superlegalized by the competent authorities.
All study documents that are not originally issued in Romanian, English, or French must be accompanied by an authorized translation and legalized by a public notary.
Documents originally issued in Romanian, English, or French do not require translation; however, any required legalization procedures remain mandatory. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in delays or the rejection of your enrolment file.

Accepted Language Certificates
Minimum Admission Grade
To be eligible for admission, applicants must hold a qualification equivalent to the Romanian minimum admission grade of 7/10. The University of Bucharest evaluates each application individually based on the official academic documents submitted.
International Grade Equivalencies
Different countries use different grading systems. As a general guideline, a Romanian grade of 7/10 may correspond to:
- Approximately 70% in percentage-based systems
- A B grade in many letter-based systems
- A Credit or equivalent classification in several international grading frameworks
These equivalencies are provided for guidance only and do not guarantee admission.
Important Information
All grade conversions are indicative and are intended to help applicants understand the minimum academic requirements. The final evaluation of qualifications is carried out by the University of Bucharest based on the official documents submitted, and the university reserves the right to determine the final academic equivalency.
What level of English is required?
Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency at B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Which English certificates are accepted?
Applicants may provide internationally recognised English language certificates as proof of proficiency, including:

• TOEFL
• Cambridge English Qualifications
• Pearson PTE Academic
• Other recognised English language certificates
Are there any certificates that are not accepted?
The Duolingo English Test is not accepted as proof of English language proficiency for admission to the Preparatory Year programme.
Planning to study in Romanian language?
Applicants who wish to enrol in a Romanian-taught study programme must demonstrate Romanian language proficiency.
Candidates who do not speak Romanian, do not hold a Romanian language certificate, and have not completed previous studies in Romanian must first apply for the Preparatory Year of Romanian Language before continuing with their chosen degree programme.

Your Admission Journey
Prepare your documents and submit your application
Prepare all required documents and make sure they are submitted as coloured PDF scans. Once your application file is complete, upload all documents through the admission platform and verify that all information has been provided correctly.
Receive the admission decision
Your application file is evaluated by the Admissions Committee. Depending on the chosen programme, you may also be required to take an admission examination or attend an interview.
Receive the Letter of Acceptance
Candidates recommended for admission by the University of Bucharest are submitted to the Romanian Ministry of Education for final approval. The Ministry may issue or refuse the Letter of Acceptance, regardless of the University's admission decision.
Apply for a Study Visa
After receiving the Letter of Acceptance, candidates must apply independently for a Romanian study visa. Applicants are solely responsible for the visa application process. The University of Bucharest is not involved in visa applications and cannot influence visa decisions made by the Romanian authorities. Study Visa Information →
